The ABS has recently released its number on arrivals and departures of people in Australia from overseas. It was interesting to note that the numbers of arrivals are at record levels at the moment. Permanent and long term arrivals of people from overseas rose to 823,000 for the year ended September 2018. This is an increase of 6% which means that it is the highest ever recorded for Australia. This is a significant amount, especially when compared to the figure around the time of the Sydney Olympics at 300,000 people.
Even Short term arrivals numbers has increased significantly in recent times. The number for the year end September 2018 is 9.2 million people.
